Sloshball

The Koala has been playing sloshball for as long as anyone can care to remember. We have an annual game with The Guardian the Saturday after Sungod. We typically host a Slosh Ball League every spring quarter. Games used to be held on Warren Field, before it became a bunch of Engineering buildings. Due to the Draconian Alcohol policy of Joe Watson, our Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, games are held off-campus.

If anyone or group is interested in challenging The Koala to a sloshball game, please email us.

Koala Sloshball Rules

Objectives

  • The objectives of this game is to resemble softball and get drunk.
  • The only losers in sloshball are those that remain sober

Definition of Terms:

Drinkoff:
An act that occurs whenever two players disagree on a call or need to establish precedent for a rule. Drinkoffs can be substituted with fight offs
Keg:
Supplied in a trash can, this is a container that supplies the beer and also acts as second base.
Keg person:
Politically correct term that describes the person that pours beers at second base
Boozeade™ :
Drink reserved for a person on the offensive team that scores a run.  Typically made up of cheap booze and cheap drink.  i.e. vodka that comes in a plastic bottle and tampico punch
Shroomade™ :
Boozeade plus psychedelic mushrooms.

Game Preliminaries

  • Teams shall agree on selected special rules, i.e. hitting balls over fences, base distances, etc..
  • When above rule is agreed upon, the captains of each team shall designate a drinker to drinkoff with the first beers of the keg against their opponents at the drop of an object, (glove, hat, dildo)
  • Winner of the initial drinkoff shall get their choice of whether to hit or play defense

Starting and Ending a Game

  • The game shall commence when the first drinkoff ends.
  • The game shall end when there is no more beer in the keg

Batting and Running

  • Each team shall designate a pitcher to pitch to their own team standing from no more than five feet and less than forty feet away.
  • Males shall get three pitches to hit a ball in fair play or risk being called out on strikes. Females shall have four pitches to put the ball in play, or risk being called out on strikes.
  • Each team shall maximize usage of both genders in their offensive lineup in an alternating pattern until everyone on the offensive squadron hits. If there is an disproportionate gender ratio, hitters must wait until all others have batted. i.e. If there are eight males and one female on a team, the female must wait until all the others males have batter for another up.
  • Any batted balls that strike a pitcher before going foul or before touching a member of the opposite team will result in the batter being called out.
  • Members of the offensive team shall not interfere with members of the defensive team in their fielding of batted balls
  • The offensive team is only allowed to stack a maximum of three players at second base. Each player must first finish their beer and touch the succeeding bases in the order that they arrived at the base.  If a batter leaves out of order or doesn't finish their beer they will risk be being called out.

Fielding

  • Fielders shall position themselves in a way so that way they can make necessary plays at the bases
  • No team shall have more than fifteen players on the field at any certain time
  • Close plays at bases will be decided by drinkoff between the player in doubt, and the player putting them in doubt.
  • An out will be recorded when a batted ball is caught before touching the ground and the player has done two of these three things : stopped their momentum, maintain control of the ball, transferred the ball into their throwing hand.
  • No offensive player shall advance to the next base on a fly ball until the ball has touched the glove on a fielder

Equipment

  • One team shall procure enough money for a keg of shitty beer.  The other team shall spend an equal amount of money and bring the cups for the keg, food, and whatever else.
  • It shall be arranged between the captains of both teams to make sure the following items are brought to the field: balls, bats, Marijuana, BBQ, gloves..
  • Each team is encouraged to bring their own boozeade™- and this can be traded with the other team or kept for themselves.

Booty

  • Games can be played for booty agreed upon by both teams
  • Teams are encouraged to also bring big bootied hoes to the games.
